Calming the Mind

Stress….

If left unchecked, it will do a number on you, physically and mentally.

Have you ever noticed there are some guys that don’t get bothered by ANYTHING? Calm, cool and collected.  And then of course you have the other end of the spectrum, completely neurotic with a mind going a hundred miles an hour bouncing from thought to thought and just can’t relax.

If given a choice, most people would choose to be like the first guy…the guy who’s calm confidence radiates from him….he has a presence without speaking.  He puts this out there by just…..being.

Alot of this is genetic, but there is also alot of this that can be LEARNED and internalized.

If left unchecked stress raises a hormone called cortisol.  When you’re cortisol is high for too long, it starts beating down on your testosterone levels.  Luckily if you’re doing everything that we’ve discussed so far, your constitution should be strong enough to win the fight, but why chance it?

You’re going to notice that as you become healthier and your hormones levels rise to new heights, you’re going to naturally feel calmer and more focused.  That’s a natural side effect of testosterone.  In my opinion, that’s one of the best reasons to make sure it stays nice and high.

That being said, if you have alot of internal dialogue in your head, it’s always a good life practice to learn how to “turn down the noise.”

This mental chatter can cause our minds to wander out of the present moment.  If you haven’t learned yet, the present is where EVERYTHING happens….your life.  Not the past, not the future…but right NOW.

When we have constant wandering thoughts and mental hiccups, these things can pull us out or distract us from being present.

Being fully present is something that we need to be reminded how to do from time to time.  When life get’s hectic we have to have a way to settle things down.  Meditation is the best way to do that.

I know alot of you will roll your eyes at the thought of it….but a good meditation session will lower your blood pressure and resting heart rate, quiet your noisy mind, and lower any type of stress reaction you may be having.

Not only that, but meditation is shown to increase the grey matter of your brain.  It’s an activity that is actually GOOD FOR YOU and your well being.  When you meditate on a daily basis the benefits start to accumulate.  You’re resting state of mind is enhanced.  You’ll notice you feel good for no reason…just because.

You feel calm more often and feelings of “I got this” start to become the norm.

But one of the best parts of a daily meditation ritual is the increase in your stress threshold.  Meaning less and less things start to negatively effect you.  Your ability to handle things is increased ten fold. And things that used to bother you, don’t anymore.  It’s like things just roll off your back….no problem.

The problem with most people is that they have trouble sitting still and trying to zone out and think of “nothing” for 20-30 minutes.  If you’ve ever tried it, you’ll see it’s not as easy as it sounds.  Unless your mind is trained for enhanced emotional poise, it’s difficult to stop random thoughts from popping into your minds eye.

That’s where holosync comes in.  Holosync is a break though in meditation technology.  It is a program that you can download into your ipod or phone and listen to through your headphones.  It may sound crazy, but simply by listening to the holosync program your mind will automatically be put into the mind state that it needs to be in to achieve a good meditation session.

Never has it been so easy to meditate until now.  By using the technology of binaural beats, the program stimulates your brain by recreating the brain waves needed to achieve the proper mind state.  Even if you’re over thinking and can’t quiet your head, just by listening to the program your mind will gently be guided down into a very pleasant, mellow, relaxing state.

Some people even fall asleep!  The best part is, even if you do fall asleep when listening, your mind is still reaping the huge benefits of a meditation practice because the nerve impulses are acting as if your own mind is doing the work!!
